5 Years of Little I

Some may say it’s a mess, random thoughts in stairwells and afternoon notions in cafes all bundled together as a blog. My way of making some sense of the world, the things we experience, the life around us.

And already, it’s been five whole years of Little I. Five years since I decided to take the leap into managing my own blog, sharing news on politics, providing opinions and insights on controversial topics. I’ve discussed things such as the US election, abortion, and Palestine. And then I’ve gone into topics such as friendship, loss, and betrayal from youth organisations.

The blogs started off more professional, polished, proper. And in time, I found my voice, my unique style that came through the most vulnerable moments of my life. Blogging has not been easy, from being scared of what others may think, to whether anyone would read it, and if blogs even have a place in modern-day society.

I’ve wanted to quit many times. I’ve taken breaks, most of them unplanned, from how busy life can be and how I feel my relationship is with writing. But I always return. Because writing to me has become a practice, a habit ingrained into me. I do love to write and share opinions, and I often will do this and then decide whether it is something I want to publish and share in a blog. Some blogs don’t make it out, and that’s ok, because it’s part of learning how the process works.

Blogging has been cathartic, a way for me to explore issues in a forum where others can give their input. And it has been wonderful. My blogs are not just me; in fact, they rarely are. They are a combination of experiences my friends have, I have, what I see in the media, and issues I realise I have been considering since I can remember.

I’m grateful for the opportunities that have come with blogging, from writing for other organisations to travelling to shoot content for others. I never could have imagined this would be a reality, where sharing my thoughts would lead to more youth work.

Five years of Little I. Thank you to everyone who has read my blog, commented, shared it, and spoken to me in my DMs about your thoughts and experiences. Your support means the world - whether you’ve been there since day one, joined us along the way, or just became a fan now. It is important - because I have literally written blogs based on messages I’ve received. Inspiration is truly all around us.

Make sure you remember to subscribe to Little I for blogs to arrive in your inbox. Here’s to the next five years!

Your commitment to your blog is admirable, you genuinely need so much dedication to be able to come home at the end of a day and post, dedication I aspire to have. Happy 5th anniversary and as a new reader and I can't wait to see all the blogs to come x

Thank you so much for your comment. I often feel like blogging is an afterthought because I go through really active periods and then silence! But yes, it is because I have the kind of support you give that I can keep writing. I hope my work continues to inspire you and give you dedication to achieve whatever you want! I can't wait to share my new blogs soon and discuss them with you xx 🤗

Thank you for your support and encouragement! I am so grateful that you enjoy it and find it opens up more conversations. I am always happy when someone wants to discuss a blog in real life because it shows that people pay attention and that I am writing something relevant to them. I hope we talk about the many more blogs I have to come! 😅

I love how writing for you is cathartic, I feel the same whenever I get to write down my thoughts whether it's my own diary or shared with the world! Never stop writing!

Thank you for your comment. I am so glad that you resonate! I do the same, there are things better for diaries or blogs. The process of writing is so comforting or relieving in a way? My favourite blogs are those where I have felt so overcome and absolutely NEED to get words down. They are the most honest and really help to make sense of my perspective. Thank you for the encouragement, and I hope writing continues to be a safe place for us all 🥰
